Browse satin fabric wholesale from Tessuti, from Luxury Satin Lycra and Wave Satin to Korean, Habutai and cotton satins. Satin gives a smooth, glossy face with a fluid drape, available plain-dyed and in digital prints.

About satin fabric

Satin is defined by its weave rather than its fibre: long yarns float over the surface, giving a smooth, glossy face and a duller back. It drapes fluidly and feels cool to the touch. Fabrics here include polyester, Korean, Habutai and cotton satins, plus stretch satins with lycra.

How to choose

Decide between a high-sheen and a matte satin, and check whether you need stretch. Stretch satins suit fitted garments, while non-stretch types are better for gowns and linings.

Range, uses and pricing

The range has 600+ designs. Prices start from ₹250 per metre. Common uses include satin for gowns, blouses, night suits, linings, jumpsuits, scarves and festive wear. Many designs are sold in a range of colours, so you can match a full collection. Fabrics are sold by the metre, and most are 150 cm wide.

Care and sewing tips

Most polyester-based fabrics wash well at low temperatures and dry quickly. Use a cool iron on the reverse and test a small swatch first, because finishes and prints vary between designs.

Frequently asked questions

What is satin fabric?

What is satin fabric used for?

Common uses include satin for gowns, blouses, night suits, linings, jumpsuits, scarves and festive wear. Many designs are sold in a range of colours, so you can match a full collection.

How do I choose the right satin fabric?

Decide between a high-sheen and a matte satin, and check whether you need stretch. Stretch satins suit fitted garments, while non-stretch types are better for gowns and linings.

How should I care for and sew satin fabric?

Most polyester-based fabrics wash well at low temperatures and dry quickly. Use a cool iron on the reverse and test a small swatch first, because finishes and prints vary between designs.
