Outerwear fabrics provide body and warmth for jackets, coats and shackets. They are heavier and denser than shirt or dress fabrics.

Check the weight and whether a lining is needed. Add interfacing for structure.

Heavier fabrics are usually best dry-cleaned or spot-cleaned. Steam instead of pressing hard, use a sturdy needle, and allow extra seam allowance for bulk.
