Tweed

Tweed is a textured, structured fabric with a slightly rough surface, traditionally woven from wool. The range includes bouclé, wool, summer and sequin or lurex tweeds, which add shine to a classic cloth.

It is used for jackets, co-ord sets, skirts, waistcoats and coats. Most designs are 150 cm wide.

Check the weight and fibre content. Heavier tweeds suit coats and jackets, while lighter summer tweeds are better for tops and co-ords.

Wool is usually best dry-cleaned or hand-washed in cool water. Steam rather than press flat to protect the texture, and store it folded with the weave unstressed.

Heavy wool tweed is warm, but lighter summer tweeds are made for warmer months. Choose a lighter GSM and a lining that breathes. See our Summer Tweed collection.
