Frequently asked questions

What is organza fabric?

Organza is a thin, crisp, sheer fabric with a slightly shiny surface. It holds volume and shape without weight, so it is widely used for structure and decoration.

What is organza fabric used for?

Designers use organza for lehenga panels, dupattas, sleeves, gowns, saree borders and decorative overlays.

How do I choose the right organza fabric?

Check how stiff the organza is and whether it has a metallic or satin sheen. For skirts and sleeves, a crisper type gives more volume, while a softer type drapes more.

How should I care for and sew organza fabric?

Sheer fabrics are best hand-washed or machine-washed in a mesh bag on a gentle cycle, then dried flat. Press with a cool iron on the reverse, and use fine needles and a small stitch length when sewing.

What is the difference between organza and organdy?

Organza is usually silk or synthetic and has a slight sheen. Organdy is a crisp cotton with a matte finish and tends to wrinkle more. See our organdy collection.

How is organza fabric priced and sold?

Fabric is sold by the metre: choose your length on the product page. Prices start from ₹100 per metre. Most fabrics are 150 cm wide; the width and weight are listed on each product page.

Do you supply organza fabric in bulk to brands and manufacturers?

Yes. We supply designers, boutiques, label owners and manufacturers. For trade pricing, sampling and large orders, contact the Tessuti team.
