About georgette fabric

Georgette is a lightweight, sheer-to-semi-sheer fabric woven from tightly twisted yarns, which gives it a dry, slightly crinkled surface and a graceful drape. It is less slippery than chiffon and easier to cut and stitch. Digital prints sit sharply on it, which is why printed georgette is so popular.

How to choose

Check the weight and how sheer the cloth is before you buy. Lighter georgettes suit dupattas and layers, while heavier ones hold their shape in kurtis and dresses. For opaque garments, plan a lining.

The range has 600+ designs. Prices start from ₹150 per metre. Georgette is a top choice for sarees, kurtis, dupattas, gowns, lehenga linings and layered dresses. Choose ready-dyed shades, printed designs or dyeable options for your own colours. Fabrics are sold by the metre, and most are 150 cm wide.

Care and sewing tips

Sheer fabrics are best hand-washed or machine-washed in a mesh bag on a gentle cycle, then dried flat. Press with a cool iron on the reverse, and use fine needles and a small stitch length when sewing.
