Frequently asked questions

What is crepe fabric?

Crepe is a family of fabrics with a crinkled or pebbled texture created by highly twisted yarns. It drapes without clinging, resists creasing better than many smooth fabrics, and prints well.

What is crepe fabric used for?

Crepe drapes well without clinging, which makes it a reliable choice for dresses, kurtis, trousers, co-ord sets, blazers and shirts. It also takes digital prints cleanly.

How do I choose the right crepe fabric?

Pick the weight for the job: lighter crepes for blouses and kurtis, heavier ones for trousers and structured dresses. Check the stretch if you want a fitted cut.

How should I care for and sew crepe fabric?

Most polyester-based fabrics wash well at low temperatures and dry quickly. Use a cool iron on the reverse and test a small swatch first, because finishes and prints vary between designs.

Is crepe good for trousers and co-ord sets?

Yes, heavier crepes hold their drape and resist wrinkling, which makes them popular for trousers, co-ord sets and blazers. Look for a mid or heavy weight. See our trouser fabric collection.

How is crepe fabric priced and sold?

Fabric is sold by the metre: choose your length on the product page. Prices start from ₹100 per metre. Most fabrics are 150 cm wide; the width and weight are listed on each product page.

Do you supply crepe fabric in bulk to brands and manufacturers?

Yes. We supply designers, boutiques, label owners and manufacturers. For trade pricing, sampling and large orders, contact the Tessuti team.
